Negative: The check in and the property are in different places. It is not comfortable when you are with suitcases. It is impossible to store the luggage in the property after the check out time.

Positive: The house is charming. Love the traditional Japanese architecture and the tatami mat flooring.

Negative: Needed is a heater for each room. We stayed here during a very bad snow storm in January 2026.

Positive: Tabine has many properties and has an office at the convenient location. Host let us leave our luggage in the office until the place was ready. He was very nice and quick to respond to my inquiry about luggage drop off. We went to explore the city and later pick up the key from the office( or code, I cannot remember) and we checked in. The first one was traditional and beautiful house. However, it has a strong smell-possibly dog or cat pee. We complained and the host was very responsive and kind. He let us change the place ( no smell) and even give us a ride to a new house. We really liked the second place and were very touched by his kindness and professionalism. For other travelers, if you are not traveling with pets, make sure that the house you rent does not allow pets. Another thing, even though this is not deal breaker, one of our friend has bad knee and had difficulty sitting on the floor. If you prefer to have chairs in the dining room or any other place, make sure of that as well.

Summary: Comfortable stay in very convenient location. Somewhat modernized machiya house, but we liked it.

Positive: We spent one night at Tunagian TABI-NE and I wish we could have stayed more. The apartment is a traditional Japanese house very well kept and super spacious especially for two people. It has two floors with the ground floor with the living room, kitchen and toilets and the first floor with the area dedicated to sleeping. It also has a lovely back garden and a private parking space. For the check-in you will have to get the keys at a location nearby but the staff is very helpful with their communication on the days before arrival to make sure everything is clarified. At the time of check in they were very welcoming and they gave us all the information we needed. We arrived by car and the road that leads to the apartment gets narrower but if you drive carefully there is no problem getting there. This was absolutely one of the best accommodations we had during our trip in Japan and I would recommend it 100%
